We have seen many doctors in the last few weeks...I had my 20 week appointment, as was previously mentioned, but if you missed the post, we are having a little girl. I had an EKG at the hospital that week as well to check on my heart rhythm...it was as I suspected (PVCs in the sinus rhythm) but as I am not symptomatic as in passing out or getting dizzy from the heart rhythms we'll probably just keep on keeping on and not do anything for it (that's my choice, anyway).
Brooklyn had her 15 month visit on Friday, and dropped from the 35th percentile of weight at 12 months, to the 10th percentile at 15 months. It's concerning so we are to keep an eye on it and try to 'bulk her up' with lots of eggs, cheese, good fats, and even some instant breakfast powder in her milk. At 18 months if she hasn't climbed back up on the percentile chart, we'll start looking into what caused the sudden change in the chunky monkey that lives at our house. It could be celiac disease--which would be terrible--so please pray that it is just because she is so busy running after her brother to gain any weight in 3 months!
Today, I took the kids (and Wiesje and Andi!) to Ft Collins for Ryan's follow-up allergy and asthma visit. We actually saw the doc this time (last time was the PA, whom I didn't really love)--I really like Dr James in Ft Collins! He was great with Ryan and switched his medications to more of what I feel he needs to be treated for--without me even mentioning it :) Ryan is now on a medication to control both asthma AND allergy symptoms, with his other meds to be used only "as needed"--previously he was on one allergy medication and one asthma med that made him really jittery and not able to go to sleep well. AND...Dr James gave us a full month's supply of the new med, in samples. Yay! We'll go back in Februrary for a follow-up and go from there. Ryan's doctors here in town will probably be able to manage him after that Feb visit with maybe only annual checkups with Dr James to check his airways.
That's the doctor update...what else has been happening?!
David shot an elk last weekend up in the mountains with Sean and Sam--lots of work involved and the men are TIRED, but we will have plenty of meat for the winter! Hopefully Debbie and Jo will teach me what to do with these huge hunks of meat my husband provided and we can get it cut up, ground up, and frozen soon.
Halloween was a blast--we started Friday afternoon visiting David's and my work with the kids in costume, then went to the pediatrician's office for a carnival, followed by some trick-or-treating and a cake walk at the UW Student Union. After a nice supper at the Lucas', we went to Ryan and Brooklyn's school Halloween party--had lots of fun there even though it was crazy with kids :) That was all Friday. Saturday morning we went to the downtown trick-or-treat with Debbie and her little boys, and after naps and supper, we put costumes back on and went trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. Daddy came home from hunting just in time to finish up trick-or-treating and help me "sort" the bags of candy the kids raked in. :)
So you made it this far...enjoy the pics!
This is what happens when you have a big brother...you play swords while all dressed up ready for church!!
My lady bug and Batman at the school carnival. So cute.
